Re: CD 25 vs. CD 27
Hi - I will be listing my CD27 soon; Annie Girl, hull #187. She has a Universal M3-20, 3 cylinder 18 hp engine, with new transmission, shaft and cutlass bearing and a 3 bladed bronze prop. Plenty of power in pretty much all wind/tide conditions. I started with the Typhoon, and moved up to the 27. Pr...

Re: CD 27 --> CD 36
John & Rich - many thanks for the insights. Very useful to me. I sail off a mooring but assume that with a bigger boat I will travel more. Motoring and docking a larger boat is one of my greatest hesitations. That and the much larger cost. Curious as to your boat speed upwind in 30-35 with only ...

CD 27 --> CD 36
I am wanting to move up from my CD 27 to a larger boat, looking closely at CD 330 & 36, Pacific Seacraft 34 & 37, Cabo Rico 34 & 38, Passport 40, Hood Waquiez 38, etc. I am curious especially about sailing characteristics of CD 36, as I had the Typhoon before the 27. I have not seen much...

Re: CD27 Port Settee Water Tank
As an FYI to the board, the port side waste holding tank on my 1980 CD 27 is (or rather was, since it was cracked and I yanked it out last fall) a Kracor Model #2-5111, Serial (?) No 79294 of trapezoidal shape measuring 30" long (bow-stern) by 18" wide (port-stb) and 11.75" tall inboa...

Have you checked out Teakflex? http://www.teakflex.com/bowsprit.htm
I am interested in same for Annie Girl, curious if anyone has tried this route.

Re: Deck Curve on CD 27 ?
Picture angle is perfect - you can see the slight camber on the bow of the boat (and the driver)! Thanks!

Re: Deck Curve on CD 27 ?
Also, might be helpful to send the fabricator close up photos of an intact bow pulpit, if anyone has any. (Mine was pretty much destroyed, unfortunately). If anyone has any let me know. - Thanks, Steve

Deck Curve on CD 27 ?
I need to have the bow pulpit replaced on my CD 27 and the fabricator asked today if there was any camber to the deck at the bow. I think not or not much, but my boat is under cover on an island boatyard, so I thought to ask the forum -- if anyone can get to their boat. The question would be the deg...

Re: Transmission rebuilder needed - spare parts sources
I have been on a similar quest, as the Hurth HBW-50 in my Cape Dory 27 failed last summer. Here is what I have learned and the sources in the Northeast for new/rebuilt transmissions: Hurth was bought out and the HBW-50 was replaced by the ZF-5 and then ZF-6, which went out of production about 8-10 y...

Re: Now pulpit CD27- source
As it happens, I am in need of the same -- a bow pulpit for 1980 CD 27. I have queries out to the marine stainless fabricators on the CD web site (Stainless Outfitters in Ontario, and Whitewater in Michigan). Any other leads, particularly for a used pulpit?

Re: Removing engine-panel "alcove" on a 25D
I removed a similar instrument panel from my cape dory 27 (a year after my mechanic did it). As with Saga, the engine panel is mounted in a fiberglass "alcove" -- which was destroyed last year. I have to repair sporadic short on the start button (solenoid?) and switch out the ammeter. That...
