Cape Dory 25D, Recent price reduction
Carl Alberg designed this full keel 25 footer to look and handle like a much larger boat. The Cape Dory 25D, with her tall mast and large foretriangle, is a powerful windward performer. She's diesel-powered by an economical Yanmar 1GM. Very comfortable ride in heavy weather for a boat this size. Eas...

Yanmar 1GM high end rpm surge
Hi all, We have a problem with the Yanmar 1GM in our 25D. It starts fine, idles smooth, runs fine under load (in gear) up to 2500 rpm. Advancing the throttle past that point the engine will move up to about 3200 rpm, then back down to about 2400 rpm, back up, back down, cycling back and forth about ...

Cookmate 4200 installed in a 25D
Hi all, I installed the Cookmate 4200 recessed model on my 25D last weekend. The opening from the old Kenyon had to be enlarged a little, but the Cookmate fits right in there. It is tight, but it fits. I had to open the width along the aft end of the opening all the way back flush to the foam insula...

Troy,
Yes, they do have gimbal mounts (sold as an accessory) for the portable models. I ordered a recessed model, so no gimbals.
www.swego.com is where I ordered mine.

Cookmate
Thanks for the info Stan. I ordered mine last weekend. I'll probably try mine out before you do, so I'll post something when I get it installed and give it a test run.

Cookmate vs Origo
The entire Cookmate line seems similar to the Origo line, (see link below) but the Cookmates seem to be aimed more at the RV market. I'm wondering if they are manufactured by the same company and simply marketed differently. However, I did see somewhere that the Cookmate pot holder would not fit the...

Re: CookMate Double Burner Non-Pressurized Recessed Stove
Hi Stan, Yes, I saw it at Swego.com. I thought it looked very similar in all respects. The difference in price made me wonder about a possible difference in quality of construction. I'd appreciate knowing how yours works out after you've had a chance to fire it up. Thanks in advance. By the way, you...

CookMate Double Burner Non-Pressurized Recessed Stove
Does anybody have any experience with the CookMate brand of stoves? They appear to be similar to the Origo brand in size, description, and operation, but are about $100 cheaper. Granted, I have not seen either brand personally, just going by what I've read and seen online. I am considering a replace...

thanks to all!
Thanks very much for all the replys. It is now much clearer in my mind. My stuffing box looks exactly like the one in the photos posted by Zeida. Next question ... if I do this job myself in the future, the nuts look like they require a special wrench, as opposed to the standard hex nuts in the phot...
