a really simple answer

Do you want the swim ladder primarily for safety? (so that you can get back aboard should you fall over) One of the previous owners of my CD25 did something very very smart. They mounted a single fold-up step on the transom of the boat. It is perfectly positioned so that you can - with a little stre...

Credibility?

I do not know the difficulty of lifting the chain and tackle of which John speaks, and I did not follow the lengthy and, at this point, throughly worn out discussion about freewheeling props versus fixed props. HOWEVER, I have read Mr. John Vigor's writing and read about his past and experience. His...

Anchor weight

I know that the CQR anchors are very good. Their reputation stands proudly. I use my Fortress FX-11 (which by Fortress' recommendations is more than enough) for my 4,000lb CD25. If it's really blowing, I set my Bruce as a 2nd anchor. It does help to have that light (11 lb) fortress at the end of my ...

Los Angeles CD owners?

Hi Folks, I'm coming out to LA. As many times as I've been there, I've not had the chance to sail there. I'm dying to do so and that pleasure would be even greater if it were aboard a CD anything. Anyone willing to take me out for a little daysail? i'll be there from the 13th through the 20th of Jan...

Northern Michigan

I learned to sail on a sunfish while at Interlochen arts camp in Northern michigan. Amidst all the obsessive arts stuff going on, there was a simple little waterfront program at the summer-long camp. They had several sailboats including sunfish, vintage lightnings, tasar, hobie cat, o'day day sailor...

It certainly depends on your waters

If I were in freshwater, my fouling problems would be far less trouble I believe. In our end of the sound we have enough barnacles, mussels and general 'boat beard' that many active sailors have to dive and scrub the bottom some several times a season. Here is a shot of my outboard hanging off my CD...

Cleaning, Trilux, Inspection

I winterize with stabilized fuel and carb fogging (letting it run with the fuel line detached until it dies). Then I make sure all the barnacles are off (if any). I give it a couple coats of trilux and let it go for the winter.

That usually does the trick.

Just the fix for a 40 degree morning

It's so very cold this morning. . but that won't stop me from sailing tomorrow. It will likely be my last day of the season.

Thanks much for your videos, Carter. We'll be out with Peter soon.

Already some more new photos

Looking good folks! I might yet last through the winter.

Warren. . you didn't have to take that pic down. I looked a little haggard but that's ok. What are sailors supposed to look like? :D

Stabilizer (I'm with Mike)

I have a nissan/tohatsu 8 and have been stabilizing the fuel in the tanks and fogging for several years with no issues. My engine starts and runs well the following season. This is as I was instructed to do by many -- including the local outboard shop. My tanks are the orange plastic type and they h...

Origo. . . old trusty

I am not a great chef. Actually, I would say that I am a fairly mediocre chef save perhaps a few dishes that I have perfected. That all being said, I have been pretty happy with my one burner Origo on my CD25. My interior space is not quite as limited as a CD22 but I do have to be conservative. The ...

CD25. . a share? sell?

Hi Folks. We are starting in the most beautiful sailing season here in the northwest. I was aboard a bit today and although the winds were flukey, it was nice. My CD25 is in pretty nice shape. The bright work is in very good shape (since I refinished all of it), the cushions and covers are nearly br...
