Old Growth Teak
I am wondering if anyone knows where the teak used in building the Cape Dory boats came from. If it was imported or US and farmed or old growth.

Re: Perkins 4108 raw water pump
I have rebuilt the raw water pump numerous times using the rebuild kit. The only part that I have found that wears out most frequently is the shaft seal. Mostly due to corrosion on the shaft from salt water. The important thing to do when rebuilding is to make sure the shaft has as good a finish as ...

Re: Reefing while underway
When I am by myself I often will heave to. It takes pressure off the mains'l and stabilizes the boat.

Original Non-skid color
I am thinking about repainting the non-skid portion of the deck on my 1984 CD36, Indigo. Does anyone know what the original color is? I have been to the Interlux website and they have a two part epoxy paint (perfection) color called "cream" that looks about right.
Thanks,
John

Wanted To Buy CD40
Hello Cape Dory Enthusiasts,
I currently own Indigo, a CD36 and have restored her and enjoyed her for 13 years. She is located in San Francisco Bay. I have been interested in moving up for a number of years and now have more time and financial opportunity to do so.
Thanks,
John

CD36 Fuel Tank Size
Hello CD enthusiasts, I have a question that has been bothering me for years. I see many posts of CD36s for sale that indicate a 43 gallon fuel tank. And the owners manual also calls out that volume. But my 1984, No. 102 CD36 has a fuel tank distinctly marked as 53 gallons. Were the newer models equ...

Re: Want to see some CDs up close.
If you are planning to be in the San Francisco Bay area I would be glad to show you my CD36 Indigo. In fact, if timing is right I may consider selling.

Re: CD 26 Boot Stripe Redo
The stripes on my boat were looking pretty weathered also. I wet sanded and polished them and that lasted quite a few more years. In case you weren't really looking forward to painting.
