Re: Exhaust water
To all who came up with answers to my problem I thank you. Would you believe, the last time I went to go sailing with my daughter and son, I started the engine and within one minute water started coming out the exhaust pipe! Why on about five previous engine starts did it take 3-5 minutes for the wa...

Re: Exhaust water
Moctrams, What is the best way to unclug the exhaust riser elbow? This may be the reason water takes so long to appear.

Exhaust water
During the 10 years that I have owned the boat as soon as I started the Yanmar 2GM20F engine on my Cape Dory 28 water started coming out of the exhaust pipe on the lower transom but since the past three months it has taken about five minutes for any water to appear. Why the delay? Where is the water...

One tremendous film!!! I have never seen a better one and so well narrated. Were I 30 years younger I would love to take a trip like this one!

Re: Engine stop remote control
Thanks, Gary H I ordered a 10' remote cable for only $26.00 from the company you suggested.
Now if I can manage to remove the old one and install the new one I am good to go!
Many thanks to all who replied

Re: Engine stop remote control
My engine is a 2GM20F Yanmar and I am asking if anyone knows where I can buy a new cable and sheath. As I wrote earlier the remote control is almost impossible to pull out so that the engine stops

Engine stop remote control
I wrote earlier about getting my control to be easier to pull out and did get several suggestions but it now seems that I need a new cable and sheath for my CD28.
Can someone tell me where I can find one? I figure the length must be about 10 feet.

Engine stop remote control
The stop control on my 2GM20F diesel engine is getting harder and harder to pull out when I try to stop the engine. I can not get to the bracket supporting the stop button without removing the instrument panel located on the transom. Should I try lubricating the section on the engine where the contr...

Re: Steel Bow Plate
The plate on my CD28 looked the same as many of the photos shown when I inspected it three years ago. I wire brushed it, painted it with rustoleum and decided it was never sink the boat. Today it looks about the same as it did three years ago so rather than take any further actions I will spend my t...

Re: Smoke in exaust
To Jim Evans, I had a brand new mixing elbow installed last year and haven't used the boat more than 40 hours since. To TerryO, My fuel is about one year old, maybe two but I doubt if it's old enough to cause white smoke. I plan to do more motoring on the 4h of Aug --- maybe the white smoke will les...

Re: Smoke in exaust
The antifreeze level remains the same. The smoke is not dense but quite light however I am sure there has been no color to the smoke on previous outings.
Have you ever seen the list of causes when various colors of smoke appear?

Smoke in exaust
Recently I have noticed white smoke in the exhaust of my CD28 which has a Yanmar 2GM20F engine. Somewhere I read an article about colors of smoke coming from marine diesels --- white, blue black etc. Can one of you experts tell me what white smoke indicates and how best to eliminate it?

Re: Two tots, a sailboat, and a storm
I think it's stupid to take a baby on an ocean voyage. Regardless of how experienced the skipper is his having to be rescued cost us tax payers thousands and maybe a million or two! And think of the danger to the men who rescued the four of them! This incident is being played over and over on nation...

Charging batteries
A simple question: On my Cape Dory 28 which I leave in the water over the winter I have two batteries connected in parallel. Since they need charging several times during the next few months I plan to hook them up to my charger. Is the best way just to connect the charger clips to one of the batteri...

Re: DRAGGING THROTTLE
Mitchell, sounds as tho you are on the right track but just where do I attach the hose clamp --- at the throttle itself or at the engine?
Excuse my ignorance but a "small hose clamp around the throttle cable body" could mean anywhere along the full length of the cable.
