Does anyone know of a place where a used tach for a yanmar might be available. For example where do older or damaged boats go to die. Seems like I could save a couple of bucks. Thanks...Charlie

Depending upon where you live, work and sail, you could find used equipment at marine consignment shops, chandleries that sell used equipment. Try the links at www.everythingaboutsailing.com or www.geocities.com/cptinrn/links.html. However, buyer beware! When it comes to things that are important to the boat i.e. your life, don't cheap out. Tachometers are not that expensive.

Also, try engine dealers who obtain trade ins. As far as tach prices go they can indeed be quite expensive such as a VDO which is original equipment on a Volvo, try a figure of well over $300. I just replaced my tach because I built a new engine panel and opted for a Teleflex as a substitution. My original Volvo VDO is still good and works fine, if anyone needs one let me know.
