Any Reviews on "SailCare" Processing

Post by Gary L. »

I am contemplating sending my sails to "SailCare" in Pennsylvania for cleaning and their re-resining process. Have any of you fine sailors used this process? What do you think?

Thanks in advance for your time.

I've sent them my main and one jib

They cleaned, re-resined, repaired some stitching, added a second reef and some grommets for an ensign. I also bought sailbags and some telltales from them. They did a fine job.

Bear in mind though that they aren't improving the SHAPE of the sail which is the main factor affecting it's performance. If you realise and accept that limitation, they do well.

Hello Gary

I had them do my original jib 3 or 4 years ago. When I got the sail back it looked much better. Not having a new jib for comparision I cant address that issue, but the jib looked much better and it is still in use. One of these days I'll get a new one, but until then (or when something happens to the old one) I keep using the original.

I sent them my mail and jib last year. They did an outstanding job cleaning and reresining them, repairing stitches, reinforcing tack and clew and installing reef points. They really went above and beyond, doing more repairs than they charged me for. As said in a previous post, I can compare them to new, because I never had new sails on this boat, and the shape is the same as it was, but they certainly look like new. Turnaround was a two to three months.

we sent them our 140 this spring. They turned it around in about 3 weeks.

It cost about 500 for a new sunshield, leathers, and reresining. My feeling was that by doing it I can get another 5 seasaons out of this sail.

I agree with others. They reconditioned the original main, club jib and yankee for my CD30c #81 and also coverted jibs for roller furling. I am very pleased.
