One of the only things that I don't like on my Typhoon is the tiller comming up in the cockpit. You lose a lot of legroom. I am thinking of extending the rudder post up through the rear of the cockpit, up through the afterdeck. The tiller will then be out of the cockpit. I will have to relocate the mainsheet hardware. Has anyone else done this or thought about it? Any comments would be helpful.

Re: Ty tiller
While sailing my Typhoon I raise the tiller for comfort if there is any "leg problem". When solo sailing, I love to lean back over a cushion, looking forwards, and simply drop my arm over the tiller -- right there, where it should be - arms lenght. Hum, how about chopping some legs???

I use only one cushion, but do take my best friend from Scotland who sits with some ice between the washboard and the toe rail. One hand for the boat and the other for yourself.Harvey wrote: One of the only things that I don't like on my Typhoon is the tiller comming up in the cockpit. You lose a lot of legroom. On re-engineering the Typhoon. Even if it worked well it would probably have a detrimental effect on the boats resale value. It is the type of boat that needs to be reasonably close to original.
