The renovation of my 78 CD 25 is going well. I am now strippin all the trim and finding beautiful wood under the years of gunk.I know I should have done this before the Awlgrip job, but I am being VERY careful. The varnish looks great on the old wood.
Now, I have gotten the idea that I would prefer to have no life lines or pulpits. I have a new furler, so going on deck will be a rarity, and the stern pulpit doesn't do anything useful. I think the boat looks so much better with a clean deck. I did this on a Sea Sprite 23 and loved it. On a larger boat going offshore where deck work is required, I would certainly opt for lifelines.
I see that some of the hardware is bolted and some screwed to the deck. Has anyone removed all the harware, and have any tips on the process?

Re: CD25 Removing Lifelines and stanchions
I remove all the stanchions on my Alberg 22, no regrets at all, she looks much better like that, i agree with you, on a small sailboat the lifes lines can be remove. I seal all holes with epoxy (West System) before painting the deck.
