Motor Mounts for a Typhoon

Hi,
I am an owner of a 31 foot and a 19 foot Cape Dory. Because of a fire, I lost my motor mount for my Typhoon. I was hoping that someone had one for sale or knew of a vendor of that part.

Frank, the original outboard bracket can be obtained from Robinhood Marine. See their web page at http://www.robinhoodyachts.com/sparmain.htm
It is rather expensive, but built like a battleship.

Spartan Marine (Robinhood, ME; 1-800-3CL-EATS) offers very spiffy and expensive (c. $400 for whole package) original motor mounts for Typhoons. A place called Handiboat (Falmouth, ME) offers a slightly more straightforward bronze/oak affair (also original, depending on boat I believe) for less (c. $250). Depends, I think, on the deck plate already in place on the stern. Ours was a simple, squared-off 'cleat' with two slots which mated wiith the Handiboat variety (two tongues on the bracket cup up into the slots, and the shafts rest on the taffrail (correct term?). The Spartan one has a different manner of attaching: if I remember, a rod on the end of the motor mount drops down intoo the deck plate and then locks in when the mount rotates downn into position. Shafts on Spartan model also angle down (unlike Handiboat), so one might get away with a short-shaft outboard (I can't vouch for this). Both are quite spiffy and would pass as art in a gallery. Much, much better than attaching to transom, which pretty much ruins boat.
