CD Color Scheme!

Post by Frederick Schreiner »

I have been told that the traditional color scheme for CDs was brown and tan. However, my 1977 CD25 shows light blue on the decks and in the cock pit sole. I can find no evidence that these areas were ever painted over. The question is: was there a year that the CD Company changed from blue to a brown color scheme? Thanks for your help. Fred

The CD25 had a different color scheme than the Alberg designs. For details on the history of the 25, look at John Ring's website:
http://www.sailorjon.net/history.htm

And you can seem some color changes I've made to Allia here (painted the blue deck gray, painted the red boot stripe black, painted the blue bottom green, etc): http://www.geocities.com/woodbe67/

Fred,

I believe that the year was in the early '80's like 1980 or 1981.
Hope this helps.

Fred,

My previous boat was a '77 CD25. It was all original with the lt. blue on non-skids and red bootstripe. Like previous message said the change was probably about '79 or '80...probably same time they introduced the bronze ports to CD25's. BTW my current 1975 typhoon (an alberg design) has original lt. blue color scheme on non-skids.

Neil,
I have a '78 CD 28 #188. It has tan decks and tan cockpit sole. I guess that narrows down the color scheme change somewhat.

FWIW...my '77 CD 28 #125 has tan non skid and cockpit but looks like there is blue underneath in a chipped spot
