How long should you expect a 10# tank of propane to last in "live-aboard" use? I'm switching to Propane and tank installation is a bit of a trick. Thinking of using 6# tanks and mounting them in the stern. Three 6# tanks would be close to the 20lbs most folks seem to have on board, but if I can get away with only 12 lbs (two 6#) without having to run out to get one filled every other day, that would save a little weight. I relalize most people use 10# tanks and 12lbs is close so I thought if I could get a gauge on how long 10lbs would last, I'd have a good idea what to expect from the 2 6#.
Any info would be helpful

10# propane - how long does it last?

Re: 10# propane - how long does it last?
Although I don't live aboard, I use my boat 70 days a year and I use my stove every one of those days. I use about 3/4 of a tank a season. I would think your usage would vary according to the type of cooking you do, but filling the tank every other day is a bit extreme. I would guess full time usage would be about 10lbs. every other month. Be sure to get the new safety valves on the tank or you won't be able to get them filled.Patrick Turner wrote: How long should you expect a 10# tank of propane to last in "live-aboard" use? Pat,
If I remember correctly, it's about 16 hours per gallon. Have you figured out where you are going to put the tank?
