Hi folks:
Is there any reason why, besides box size and space, that I cannot switch from Group 24 to Group 27? It seems that bigger would be better....is this right?? Thanks!!

Only other difference to consider as far as I know is weight. Just looking in the West Marine Catalog at their Dual Purpose Batteries, the grp 24 weigh 39 lbs each and the grp 27 weighs 49 lbs. Our CD27s have only two batteries so it would be an extra 20 lbs in the starboard cockpit locker. Not much effect on trim there. But anyone with many more batteries might have to consider counter measures for trim. Other than that, as long as they are the same type, flooded, gel or AGM (don't mix 'um) I believe there is no problem in switching to a higher capacity battery.

Consider Group 31. They fit (some) boxes made for Group 27. The cost isn't much above the 27s and they provide more "juice."
