I'm refinishing my coaming boards and some of the cockpit trim on my Ty. I have the finish removed and have used Boat US "step 1" teak cleaner. The wood looks pretty good but still has some black spots (the finish was badly weathered and seems to have been a mix of varnish, which came off fairly easily with an industrial stripper, and something else which I melted with a heat gun and scraped off).
What's my next step? I thought perhaps sanding with 80 - 100 grit to make sure I've gotten all the finish, then bleaching for the black spots with oxalic acid, then staining to recover the teak color, and finally finishing with the Armada. Any thoughts?
Thanks. John

John,
Sand the teak as you see fit, when finished, clean it with Larry Demers solution of 1/3 bleach, 1/3 409 Cleaner, and 1/3 water applied with a soft scrub brush. Wash off and let dry a day. Wood will look a little grey, but black spots will be gone, then, apply Armada as per directions, three coats a minimum ie. 3 days! Do NOT stain the wood, not needed! You are done!
