Many thanks to all who responded to my question on enlarging a compass hole. Got that one nailed (?) down pat. Another question: the worn out Saturn compass I removed was not attached to a fairing block, which may have had something to do with it being hard to read for the prior owner. The directions for the Ritchie BN202 (bulkhead mount) that I will install (I like the combo flat/direct read)
definitely calls for a fairing block, although it seems to me it may not need one. This is such an obvious problem/solution for someone who has done this, so the advice will be appreciated. If needed, I have a nice piece of teak...a good Saturday project. Thanks...Bill
