Teak for Craig's coaming 4/5/02

Post by John »

Hi all, For what it's worth,I have had good luck finding all sizes and kinds of hard to find lumber from Constantine's. Hit "Keyword" and type in Constantine's Woodworkers Catalogue. It's free.
Again, for what it's worth,if you have to repair rotted teak in areas like cabin bulkheads etc. that need 1/2" or 3/4" teak or mahogany too,use treated ext. plywood. Cut it to size, try for fit, and then glue on whatever veneer you are working with, one side or both. All wood, glues, tools, veneers of all types are in this catalogue.
As for coaming, if you have a rounded or softened edge(s), if not too severe, they offer edging, or edge grain veneer tape to cover the plywood edge. Good luck, let us know how you are making out. If you can't wait for a catalogue, their webpage shows some of the wood and veneers and you can print what is of interest to you.Again, good luck. Your sailing friend, John D
