I found an interesting little website that calculates true wind angle and speed from input you give from apparent wind and boat speed. Nothing you'd take along with you on your boat but its a nice curiosity. Just check off "knots" instead of units of boat speed in the calculation and forget the unit of boat speed output(cause I don't know what it means anyway). This may give you some feeling for the relationships of apparent wind vs true wind on your boat.

Careful!
As Warren suggested, click on knots and don't use the "units of ships speed." The results are flawed when you simply use the ratio between ships speed and apparent wind; they give you a result in knots which is impossible to calculate when all you know is the ratio of apparent wind and ship's speed.
