Captain Stump,
Be advised that I have followed your advise and applied the subject stoveblack polish (Rutland's) to my prop while my boat was temporarily on the hard for bottom painting and other general maintenance. I lost actual count, but I believe i applied in excess of 15 coats. My boat is located in South Florida on the ICW, a place known for its bountiful barnacles. I will advise you of the results after an appropriate passsage of time. If it works, I will, of course lift not only a glass, but a decanter, in toasting your praise.

Re: Honored Sir.....and......
Captain Parker,
Would be very interested to know how it works down there. 15 coats! Whow, that must look like a brandy new Rutland stove! I've only ever put on 2 or 3 coats.

I will be extremely interested in the results in our heavily fouling waters here in Florida. Kudos for going to the trouble and expense in trying the stuff. If it works here it will be a miracle.Captain Commanding Hanalei wrote: Captain Parker,

Will,
It will work. PROVIDING you use the engine regularly. I had more than 15 coats on, didn't use the engine and had a big mess -- that cracked off fairly easily when I hauled the boat. I'm pretty sure the problem was that the prop was never washed because I didn't use the engine.

Re: Cap't Stump's stoveblack
Don,
Glad to hear that there is some documented success (in addtion, of course, to that of Captain Stump). I must use my engine to leave and reenter my marina and navigate the slip. Therefore, I hopefully will not run afoul (no pun intended), of your timely admonition.
Thanks for response.
