Perhaps when "Old Chicken Legs" realizes he will have to eat his words, he may decide to stay in the chicken coop!!!

Captains Commanding,

I WILL be at the Watch Hill Inn for the awards ceremony! You WILL note that the Captain and crew of Hanalei will be sitting at the bar when you finally walk in! Please try and get there as soon as possible, I would not want to be overcome with GROG when I give my speech! If you are REALLY slow, perhaps you could break out the sweeps or possibly warp your vessel into the anchorage!!! All of you Captains may consider pumping all water casks over the side and throwing anything heavy in after it. You know, lighten ship a little. Don't throw your outboard though, you will need it to get to shore for the awards ceremony! Anything, just ANYTHING, to get over that finish line! (Forget about crossing the line before Hanalei, it ISN'T going to happen!!!)

So, am I to understand that for the soup before dinner you all would prefer "Chicken Soup" instead of New England Clam Chowda'? It can be arranged! ! !

I remain......your most HUMBLE servant.........

Mark,

I was just perusing the CD registry, and noticed that you and your vessel are NOT registered! What's up with that??? Do you own a Cape Dory, and if so, what is it??? Will YOU be at the RACE, or is all of this just a lot of talk????? Just wondering....

Race is on Fishers Island Sound -- Dave???

Post by Catherine Monaghan »

Mark,

The race will occur in Dave's neck of the woods after the Shelter Island fleet has made it's way across the Sound. At present, the race will be from Bartlett Reef Race to Latimers' Reef Lighthouse.

Dave,

Is this correct?

Captain Heintz,

WHY, I only asked a few very SIMPLE questions. Far be it from me to raise up the rabble and cause a stir!!!! Hey, this is going to be FUN....!!! I can't wait!!! Have you been practicing with that water bomb launcher???? You may need it, and it will lighten your vessel, possibly making her a little faster(have you also practiced with spinaker bag???)!!!!

As an aside, made teak ladder treads for Hanalei's stern ladder this weekend. Came out real good, and will make it easier for crew to get back aboard after they go for a swim to cool off after all the hard work during the RACE !!!

Now, to coat the hull below the water line with shark skin!!!

Cathy,

The race will be from Bartlett Reef at approx 41*16'20" N and 72*8'11" W to Latimer Reef lighthouse at approx. 41*18'16"N and 71*55'59" W. Ah, the whole course is posted on the site elsewhere, but I will repost it again in the future.

Captains,

Search the site on "The RACE" and check item 19. That will tell the story with one little error...

This is another thread we've had quite enough of.

Hey Cathy,

What say we call an end to the "get Capt. Stump" thread also. What started out as a little cute banter has grown to dominate the board. People that want to race can take it off the board and continue between them. JMHO

Now Tom,

We're just trying to have a little fun.

I don't think it's offensive, and provides a little deversion from the Winter Blues. And you don't have to follow thread.
