Interlux Toplac experience?

Has anyone used, or have any information about, Interlux Toplac topside paint? I'm repainting my topsides this spring and am trying to decide what to use. Was planning to go with Interthane two-part, but want to consider all the alternatives. Toplac seems like it might work well, but I haven't found anyone with real-world experience. Thanks,

We used Brightside on our hull last spring. Rolled & tipped. Comments in the marina were "did you spray". We were going to use a 2 part, but decided on the 1 part & are very pleased.

I'm planning to try the stuff on my boot stripe in early May...expensive, but rated very good in PS compared to others, even Brightside....FWIW

if you can get your hands on the most recent copy of good old boat (jan/feb) don casey has an article regarding this subject. his recommendation is interlux interthane plus formulated for the roll and tip method. like john i used petit one part to do the non-skid on my deck, but i did not have to tip as i was adding non-skid material directly to the paint anyhow.

Thanks for the responses. I am a GOB subscriber - won the subscription by finishing second of four in the full-keeled handicap class of the Good Old Boat Regatta (never mind that two of the boats didn't show up). Don Casey's article is very good - I'm planning to follow it closely, with the possible exception of using the two part. There are a lot of good sources of info out there on various paints, rolling/tipping, etc., which is the reason I feel I can tackle this myself. I just can't decide on what paint to use and what color (any suggestions are appreciated - the boat's a 1967 Bristol 27, which is an Alberg design nearly identical to a CD27). John, what color did you use?

I guess I'm just not convinced the 2-part will make that much of a difference over something like Toplac. I've heard several people say they're satisfied with Brightside, and Toplac is supposed to be better.

I paited my white tender a dark green with Toplac a few months ago. It was a breeze, but has hardly had a chance to stand the test of time. I think it looks great now.

Did you use the Brightside Primer? Or some other primer? How many coats? I have been curious about the dark green Toplac....if you want, let me us know in a while how the stuff holds up...an interesting topic for those of us with older boats.

Hi Clay,

I didn't use primer. I was painting over gelcoat that was in good (decent) condition. This was more a test for me to see if I could pull it off. I've thought about doing the same thing with Allia (CD 25). I'll post photos of the tender when she's in the water.
