Hello to All;
FYI certain alert boaters may already have knowledge of Kenyon's recall of the model B2300 Express butane stoves. It came out in April, 2001, but I missed it. If you have or use one of these portable stoves, Kenyon is offering a free replacement of potentially defective and/or dangerous components. Apparently, an unsafe condition arises if the stove is 'misused'....what happens is the replaceable butane cannister overheats; this overpressurizes the regulator and it leaks gas. If the flame is still going, it may flare up and cause injury. According to Kenyon, they know of two instances that cause the problem...if you don't turn the pot support over from its shipping position, the stove will eventually overheat from the lack of physical space created by the uninverted support; additionally, if you use a pan or pot whose diameter is larger than the support, the heated pan surface extends out over the butane enclosure, encouraging the overheating scenario. Kenyon has a URL link to the safety notice which I will post below. Their toll free number for questions is 1-866-585-7377. Be careful, and good luck !
