I Just Love My Boat

I live in Charleston and just came in from a 3 hour sail. It's about 46 degrees and the wind blew from the southwest at about 10 knots. I had my wife, sister and child (4 year old little girl) and I just wanted to write and mention that I just love my little CD 22. I know you all feel the same way.

I'm in Charlotte NC and we have several inches of snow. Glad to hear someone else likes winter sailing. The wind seems to have more power in 46 degree weather doesn't it? I'd much rather be sailing than sitting in a football stadium anyday!

I had the same experience yesterday. It was 62 degrees on the lake, the winds were light but the sun was warm and so was my heart because of my CD 28. Now if I could only slide Austin, Texas a bit closer to the gulf coast life would be near perfect.

Over the holidays my brother, who lives in Sunny Florida, came to Arkansas for a visit. In addition to two days backpacking in Ouachita Mts., we spent two days and nights sailing on Lake Ouachita. Winds were brisk, so sails were reefed and hands and heads were covered with Windstopper gloves and caps. There were no skiboats or jetskis buzzing about; in fact, Witness, CD25-D, skipped over the waves alone, with two happy guys on board. What a life.

Just before Christmas, I was sailing Charleston Harbor on my CD-25D. It is new to me so we were testing it out in a nice breeze. Started out with a reef in the main and a little wrap on the jib. Still doing about 5.5kts. Warm enough to be in shirt sleeves while sailing downwind. Then, took a break for lunch so dropped the main and just sailed at 4.6kts or so under furled jib alone. Impressed with the way this boat moves under the breeze.
Great day, great boat, great place to sail.
We are at City Marina on the Ashley. Look forward to seeing you on the water.
