Engine woes

Post by David Sabourin »

Anyone out there ever have their engine start backwards. I mean with intake valves acting like exhaust valves etc.?
I did Sat, all kinds of exhaust came out of the air breather. Smoke was quite thick.
OBTW I heard a bunch of sirens just after the smoke cleared and thought OH S__T here come the fire engines for my smoke. I was wrong. Someone had fallen into the water late Friday night and died of hypothermia. They found him clinging to the dock line of his boat. This was at Herrington Harbor North in Deale.

EVERYONE BE CAREFULL!!!!!

The old 1 cylinder diesels we used on work boats on the Chesapeake were stopped & then cranked backwards to go in reverse.

Would be dependant on the injector pump being able to "inject" properly while running in reverse. Have to be careful of the engine inhaling a gulp of cooling water, if you have a injection elbow on the exhaust.
