Did Cape Dory apply an epoxy barrier coat during its years of production of CD 28's? If so, when did it begin? I have hull number 204 and have had no blistering problems (knock on wood!) Osage spent its first five summers in salt water, but the last five have been in fresh water. No problems at present, but the question came up during a conversation with the local yard manager and we were discussing the seeming inevitability of blisters.

I don't know the answer to your question, but not all CDs get blisters. My 31 has not been epoxy coated and has only had two pencil eraser sized blisters in the 18 years of her life.

CD36, no blisters
CD36, #086, I'm the original owner. I've never allowed sandblasting or stripping or application of barrier coats. Audrey was commissioned in 1983, been in salt water all her life and there is still no sign of blistering. She just had a survey in dry dock.
