winch part replacement

I had to drill out the center screw on my Lewmar #5 English winch (origional eqpt. on my Typhoon) that connects the drum to the spindle.

I contacted Lewmar and they advised replacements are no longer avialable for these winches. Can I use a stainless steel screw on a bronze winch?

Any Ideas?
