REMOVING "ORANGE" CETOL

Re: REMOVING "ORANGE" CETOL
Mac,
My CD28 (Power) had been refinished on the interior with Cetol. Strip Ezze took it off within minutes of application. A little messy but a good job if directions are followed.

Re: REMOVING "ORANGE" CETOL
The easiest method to remove Cetol (or most other finishes) is with a heat gun and scraper. The underlying wood must be smooth and relatively flat. I bought a heat gun at Home Depot for around $40 that had a paint scraper attachment included. Just follow the instructions that come with the heat gun. Worked like a charm, at least on the smooth sections. Unfortunately for me, a lot of the wood had ridges and grooves, so I had to resort to sanding. This is the most difficult way to remove Cetol!Mac Taylor wrote: Could someone please advise me as to how I can remove the orange Cetol product before varnishing.

Re: REMOVING "ORANGE" CETOL
Mac,
If the Cetol is old (5 + years), a scraper (pull type) will get it off nicely without the need of a heat gun. Peel away stripper works, but wear heavy gloves. When I used the peel away it ate through the flimsy gloves I was wearing and took the skin off of my fingers. Not pleasant.
