i thought i had it all figured out until i tried to purchase interthane plus beige. it's no longer available. what has everybody who have repainted their deck and cockpit non-skid used for paint to replicate the original cape dory beige?

One suggestion is that if you have a autobody supply source in your area that sells Dupont's Imron they will more than likely do custom color matching. All you need to do is take them a paint chip that matches the beige you want and they will match it. The Imron is a linear polyurethane just like Interlux's Interthane, but better in my opinion. If you find someone that carries the Sterling or Porter line of products they may be able to do the custom mix for you as well. Sikkens also makes a linear polyurethane. Check the yellow pages in your area under automobile paints suppliers and also industrial paints suppliers. Linear polyurethane is what you are looking for.

Or you can just refinish with gel coat (containing wax). If you decide to use gel coat contact Gel Coat Products in Seattle as they have the CD original matching colors. Contact info and colors below:

You could also contact Tom Fabula at Signature Finishes. They make an excellent line of acrylic urethane enamel finishes. They are the makers of Honey Teak as well. Get in touch with them for excellent info on their paint system. They may be able to do a custom color match for you. Contact info below:
