I would like to learn more on repair of these annoying little things. I have found that using rigid materials like gel coat and epoxy do not solve the problem for very long- cracks reappear in nearly the same place. Wondering if a flexible sealant like sikaflex or ? would adhere well and flex as well. Cover it with paint and it should not be too noticable. By the way, my CD40 was built in the winter just before the company went belly up. Dave Perry who was the VP of sales there and is now the broker at Robinhood (where Andy Vavolitis now bullds the Robinhood boats) has given me a variety of reasons for the cracks- mainly the too thick gel coat story. Unfortunately even they seem to know of no way to permanently repair them. They do feel with a little care these should only be a cosmetic problem.

Re: Deck Cracks
There was a thread concerning deck cracks earlier on the board...I should still be available. As I recall, there were some fairly helpful suggestions on how to deal with them...I will be tackling a few deck cracks myself this spring.

Re: Deck Cracks
Dana has posted a fairly complete discussion of dealing with cracks in the gel coat. To find them, scroll down to the bottom of this message board to view Older Messages. Click on Older Messages and then use the Edit menu and click on Find. Type in the term cracks and it will take you to Dana's procedure for dealing with them.

Searching Old Messages
Actually, the Search option searches all messages, old and new, since most of the information people post is useful regardless of how old it is.
Just use the search box at the top of the main message page.
