C-25 Marketvalue?

I have found a C-25 I'm interested in purchasing. I'd like to find a publication where one could reference the "low...to high" value for the craft. My father & I purchased Typhoon Wndr #1376 new, regretted selling it... . Here's the scoop on what I've found. C-25 #359, original sails (fair shape), light/medium deck gelcoat oxidation, All running rigging needs replacement, light surface corrosion on spreader mounts, slight "rust staining" on turnbuckles and chainplates, bottom paint 2yr new (but boot stripe lost), cracks in deck-gelcoat here and there (around cockpit). The boat appears in okay/good overall shape, not abused but slightly neglected...put it this way, cared for but not "loved." Honda 8hp 4-stroke, 3-4 yrs old. What is a fair price for this C-25??? Thanks for any input!

There are six CD 25's for sale in this month's Soundings which is about normal. The prices usually average between $5,500 and $8,000. I know someone who just bought one (I think it was a '76) for $4,200 and it was in pretty good shape. Anyway, they made over 800 of them so availability is not a problem. You could probably get one for somewhere around $5-6K. As far as a publication is concerned, I know many dealers use the "Buck" book which is a database of the highs and lows of recent boat sales. But I've heard other people say that it doesn't really mean anything.

I looked around the new england area for a while before getting my CD25 #602 last May. The range I found was $5500 to $9500. This did reflect a significant difference in boat condition and equipment. Mine was almost in the center of that price range. It was in good to very good condition and came with 7 sails which included a brand new working set. It had a 1980 9.9 engine which I decided to replace, but that brought my total cost up into the high range.

Based on my experience (in my area) I would guess that a 25 of that age and with a single set of original sails would be under $6000. It seems to match up with a few I saw priced around $5500, though the Honda engine might bring the price a bit higher. Just a guess.
