CD28 Powerboat vs. Ellis and others builders

Interested in a 28' downeast style boat. I like the lines of the CD28 and the comments on this web site seem very positive. How does Cape Dory compare to some of the other builders like Ellis in terms of quality and value. I live near Dana Point, California. I would like to find a boat close to home here on the west coast. Could someone refer me to a knowledgeable broker and surveyor familiar with downeast style boats in my area. Thanks
