I left the slip at 06:30 this morning for the 4nm run to Smith's Marina. This is a trip that I have made nearly every fall for more than twenty years. Each trip is the same, yet different. Today there was no wind, no other boats moving on the river, a breathtaking sunrise, and not too much chill in the air. I was alone and enjoying every second of this slow trip to the hard.

RESPITE was hauled without incident. Her bottom was as clean as I have ever seen after a season in the Chesapeake. Her engine has been pickled. Oil & filter changed. Fuel tank topped off. Water tanks drained (hot water heater also) and antifreeze pumped through the plumbing. Her sails have been removed as has the other canvas. Sheets and halyard replaced by messengers...

I should be tired, but it really was a perfect day just messing around on the boat. As I was finishing my tasks, the yard hauled a beautiful Typhoon and blocked her near RESPITE. The universe is in harmony. Spring awaits.

Every best wish,
Mitchell Bober
