A month ago I stopped at Rig Rite in Rhode Island and the gentleman talked me into buying a hinged mast step for the CD-25D that I bought in September. Are there any CD-25D owners out there that have a hinged mast step and step the mast themselves? How do you do it? How many people does it take? I can invision this to be a very interesting exercise. Any replies would be appreciated.

Re: CD-25D(hinged Mast Step)
Paul,
First, what did this little jewel cost? Any reduction in the cost of launching and recovery of our 25D would be appreciated. I have only had experience with our old Typhoon, but a gentleman in the mooring area here in Great Bay regularly raises and lowers his mast on a 30+' steel cutter which he built himself. He is retired, and performs this feat alone, with no problem ( and no unusual noise!). I think he attaches a pole to the front of the mast, at the spinnaker pole fitting and runs a line from the masthead, through a turning block at the end of the pole, then a turning block at the stem and back to a winch. The shrouds are loosened, or removed where possible and the mast is lowered to the waiting cradle at the back of the cockpit. I'll try to get in touch with him through the holidays and get complete instructions.
Sounds like a great idea to me.
