Genoa for Typhoon Senior

Post by Mike Malloy »

I'm looking for a 150 to 155 genoa for a Typhoon Senior. Luff of about 27', foot 12.75 to 13'. I've looked at some of the sailswap sites, but have not found anything real close. Any leads would be appreciated.

I searched high and low for used sails for my Sea Sprite. the problem is that boats with such low aspect ratios as ours are a part of history now and any sail that you find is likely to be a minimum of 20 years old. I had guys laughing when I asked for a jib that was 8 feet on the foot.
A Ty Sr. is a highly sought after boat and well worth the investment in new canvas. Boats of this size are a relative bargain to buy sails for at least compared to larger boats whos sails are easily $1000's a piece. Figure $800 for a sail from a top notch loft and $500-$600 for overseas stuff.
Used sail brokers are great for Catalina 22 owners and the like. Buying 3 new sails now will greatly enhance your enjoyment of your boat.

I was just quoted $550 (including shipping) for a new main for a Weekender...from Mack Sails in Florida. They're a quality loft with a great reputation. (800) 428-1384.
