Head ???'s

The previous owner of my 25D removed the marine head due to odor problems. I THINK i want to replace the porta-pottie with the orginial head, however, I am on a limited budget.

My friends at the marina seem to think I need a macerator pump to elimenate the odor and flush the "solid" waste to the holding tank under the engine. Will a manual head do this for me or do I indeed need a macerator? I dont mind the porta-pottie, and my marina does nat have a pump out yet.
