CD27 Bimini and Mainsheet Traveler

Post by Bob Marsh »

I finally worked out my solution to this Florida sun. I moved the mainsheet to the bridgedeck (Cabin hatch step), with a Harken traveler and hired JSI to fit a custom Bimini.
I have been out several times and I really like the arrangement. If anyone is interested I can email them some photos. (I dont have a web page}

Bob:

I would love to see those photos. This question has come up before (where to put a mid-boom traveler on a 27) and I weighed in previously with my opinion that a cabintop traveler is not feasible on the 27. However I did surmise that the bridge deck could be an appropriate solution as it is approximately mid-boom. As far as I can tell you are the first to have actually done this.

thanks in advance

I currently have a bimini on my CD27 with the traveler and mainsheet in the original position. I think it is quite satisfactory. The main issue is sheeting in the main hard for a beat. If the bimini is not adjusted properly (level) the boom will rub the aft bow on the bimini. Otherwise it works quite nicely.
