I have several leaks (stanchions and possibily seahood) on my newly acquired 25D. CAn the seahood be removed and re-bedded like a stanchion?

Thanks Bill

Bill,

We removed and rebedded the sea hood on our CD 30 this summer. It was a straight-forward job, and only took about 2 hours. I would recommend that you also clean and re-apply caulking to the periphery of the hatch also, as this is an area that can recieve the cast off water from the sea hood and allow it to leak into the cabin.

I must also re-bed the seahood on my CD25. This piece (on my boat) is only attached with short screws. I am not very comfortable with this arrangement. I cannot tell how dificult it would be to change to thru bolts because the inner cabin liner hides the actual underside area. I also cannot tell how effective longer screws would be for the same reason.
Can you tell me how the hood is fastened on your boat ?

Jim,

Sorry for the slow response. I missed your question added to my post. Our seahood slides on on teak rails mounted to the coach roof. It can be removed by removing these little stops that are screwed into the slide slots. The seahood retracts under a cover that is mounted directly to the coach roof with screws. Our maintenance this summer was to remove the removalble cover, clean and re-caulk, then replace. Hope this helps and isn't too late.
