jib/genoa car replacement

Post by P Hopkins »

We are new to sailing and a new owner of a Cape Dory 25. The plastic part of our jib car splintered the last time we were sailing. It sits on a 5/8 inch track and we were told "they don't make this size car any more." Before we replace the whole track, we thought we would ask if anyone has a resource for the 5/8 inch cars.
Thanks very much

Schaeffer still makes 3/4" track and cars. Later this season I am replacing mine with 1" track which should fit with a little overlap on the toe rail. The only reason I am doing this is beccause the 3/4" cars and blocks are only rated for 750lbs SWL. I feel more comfortable with 1,000 lbs SWL in winds over 15 knots with the genny up.
