Cape Dory Float-in: Bristol RI, July 22-23, 2023
The Narragansett Bay Fleet got together on Saturday, July 22-23 in Bristol RI. In attendance were Henry Dupont and CD 28 Mischief, Walter Hobbs and CD 27 Horizon Song, Joe Gabriel and CD 27 Fairwinds, Phil Tanner and CD 28 Spyder, Fred Mueller and CD 27 Jerezana, and Joe Fischgrund and CD 27 Wind Ho.
Boats came in from Providence, Newport, Wickford, East Providence and Block Island. Kudos to Henry Dupont and his crew who made the longest trip from Block Island. We had sunny, hot weather but very light winds. Most of us motored all the way on Saturday. Most of us also began Sunday morning motoring against the tide, but the winds picked up around noon so most of us also had a nice sail at the end of our trip.
Thanks to Phil Tanner for hosting several of us aboard Spyder for cold beverages and snacks and Cape Dory talk on Saturday afternoon. We had 14 people for dinner on the deck at the Thames Waterside Bar and Grill, where the food was excellent and the view, especially the sunset, spectacular. Of course, the best part was the camaraderie. We look forward to getting together again next year.
