Cape Dory 25

Post by gianlisi »

Hello,

Does anybody know if the original Cape Dory 25 cockpit team coamings are bedded with any type of adhesive or simply bolted in place?

I need to fix my port coaming that split in two. Before undertaking the job I wanted to make sure I am not going to damage the boat or the remaining wood!

Thank you for any feedback you may have!

Sorry, I just now saw this one. I removed my teak coamings on my former CD25. Mine were bedded with dolfinite, which I believe was original. They came off fairly easily. I used a fairly small bead of polysulfide when I re-installed them. If it's not too late, search the archives for a post by "Tartansailor". Dick repaired his split coaming on his CD25 with a very elegant butterfly joint, sometimes called a bow-tie joint.
