Oil leak YSM8

Post by Walter Hobbs »

Greetings,

My YSM 8 has a small oil leak. Starts and runs fine, but for approx. every 10 hrs. of operation I lose about 2 oz. of oil. It is not enough to show on the dipstick but makes a mess under the engine. I now run with an oil absorbent pad placed to catch the oil and keep it out of the bilge.
It is leaking from the starboard side of the engine. Because of the limited space in the "engine room" I cannot see exactly where it is coming from. I have been using a mirror to try and visualize the source. No luck. Before I start disassembling at random, have any of you solved this problem.

Thanks,

Perhaps there’s something to be gained by the experience of others.

Thanks, Jim, for finding this. I didn't see it in my pre post search.
Maybe I'll start with gently tightening every bolt I can reach. Using a bright light and a mirror.
Won't be this week with the temp. in the teens.
