Free 1977 CD30 Mk1 in CT

This may be too good to be true, or there is something they aren't telling, but from the images and description, it looks like a bargain.

This boat is at my Wintertime drydock marina.
I think I know this boat.
I'll go check it out soon and report back.

I went and looked at this boat yesterday. Overall she looks to be in very good condition.
A lot of nice touches: bronze portlights, 4 oil lamps in cabin, heater, nice gimballed gas stove/oven, all interior cushions look fairly recent and good shape, no signs of water intrusion, hull looked good, etc. She's nicely shrink-wrapped with an access door and ladder so that one may enter fairly easily.
I'm no surveyor but she looks like a fine boat to me.

I texted the former owner concerning this (CD 30 ketch in Connecticut) this past weekend.

He said that it is no longer available.

It was being offered for $1 (one dollar) and looked very good to me but needed and engine.

Wonder who the lucky new owner is?

The only Cape Dory with the “MK” designation is the CD30MKII which was designed by Clive Dent and manufactured between 1987 and 1990. So whichever model of CD30 is actually being given away, it is not an “MK” model, more likely a CD30K (ketch) or CD30C (cutter).
