CD25D Hot water heater breaker

Post by n5ama »

My CD25D has a hot water heater breaker on the breaker panel. My boat has pump water on the sinks in the galley and the head. Why would they put a panel with a hot water heater breaker on a boat that didn’t come with a hot water heater? It seems that it would save a few bucks to just put a blank in the place of the breaker.

I’m not complaining because I may some day decide to install a pump and a hot water heater. Just curious.

Are there any wires connected to it? If so where do they go?

Good point. I’ll check but the owner never mentioned a water heater. I just assumed it doesn’t exist because the sinks have pump handles.

Thanks for the reply!!

Some Of the D’s Came with water heaters. Probably a option. If I remember correctly Cape Dory’s sales brochure a water heater is mentioned.
Every once in awhile when a D is for sale you see a ‘hot water’ listed on their spec sheet. If you plan on installing I would think you need a separate holding tank and pump-out!!

Thanks for the input. I just assumed a hot water heater would only be for a pressured system with a hot water tank. I’m going to the boat tomorrow and will check to see if there is anything connected to the panel breaker.

I checked the panel today. Nothing connected to the hot water breaker. :?:
