Most 33's were sloop rigged where the 330 mostly had staysails. I don't know the exact way to tell it is for sure factory but I would look at the deck detail - as in the non skid outline- around the tack fitting of the staysail. And how it is reinforced belowdecks and whether it has an additional aft lower shroud. It is a good bet it is factory unless something "jist don' look right."
If no body on this board knows, it may be good to have the year of production, photos and hull number at hand and ask someone at Robinhood Marine maybe if they would know. Dave Perry?

This tells you how to read your HIN. It appears the “C” indicates the month of manufacture. In your case it signifies October.

Yes, the CD33 was available with either a sloop or cutter rig. Your best bet for an accurate answer is to ask the owner.
One way to tell the difference between a CD33 and a CD330 is to look at the cockpit. The CD33 has a straight, boxy cockpit. The CD330 has a T-shaped cockpit. Not only does the CD330 have a cutter rig, she has a taller mast than the CD33. The head on the CD33 is on the port side, on the CD330 it’s on the starboard side. There are other differences. The CD33 was built between 1980 and 1985; the CD330 was built between 1985 and 1988. But you do need to verify which model boat you’re looking at.
