Off the Market

Post by Jeff and Sarah »

We are sadly selling our 1981 CD33. We are moving and our new dock does not have sufficient depth for Prerequisite which we have owned and loved for 10 years. Rather than keep the boat in a slip down the road we’d prefer to find a new boat that can be docked in our backyard.

New Doyle main and Genoa in 2016 with very little use. Mast taken down to bare metal and repainted with interlux perfection in 2011 and it still looks fantastic. 7 layers of interlux barrier coat. She is powered by a Volvo Penta 2003 (model number, not year) Diesel engine with unknown hours which runs great. I just had the water pump rebuilt and the oil seal on the hand crank shaft replaced. All seacocks were serviced over this past winter. Harken cruising roller furler replaced in 2011. Raymarine auto pilot with wireless remote control added in 2016. Balmar 120amp alternator, Balmar external controller, Duo charge controller (for emergency start battery). Balmar smart gauge for battery monitoring. 12v 430 amp hour house bank (6 volt batteries). Origo Non-pressurized alcohol stove/oven combination.

Pictures coming in following post.

We are asking $19,500. Please contact me (Jeff) via email or phone.

Please note one of the starboard ports’ glass has cracked. It does not leak but should be addressed eventually.

Got to love those 33s. If I had another rebuild in me I would think this boat is a prime candidate.

Thank you for the kind words! We love the boat and it has been great for our family over the years. If our new dock were just a little deeper we’d never let her go.

I should have mentioned I relocated the house battery to under the quarter berth to make it easier to access. The emergency reserve starting battery (we typically start the engine on the house bank) is still in the port lazerette.

Would it be possible to dredge at the new dock? Probably only a couple of feet. You probably already considered this. Just a thought.

Dredging at the dock is possible, I only need another foot or so, but the problem is the several hundred yards to the channel that would also need to be dredged. My CD trawler gets to the dock without a problem, as does our little center console. We are joining a yacht club around the corner and have a dock reserved for our CD33 but if it sells we will find a day sailer that works at our home pier. With that, I’d consider a partial trade for a nice Ty towards my 33.

No longer for sale

As any parent would be excited to hear, my oldest son has decided we need a last big adventure together with the boat before we sell it. We are planning a trip to Bermuda together to celebrate my upcoming military retirement so Prerequisite is off the market for the foreseeable future.

Happy sailing.
