CD 25 Boom attachment

Post by svPlover »

Hello CD sailors! Hoping someone can enlighten me on a boom attachment. Just started sailing a 1975 CD 25. After a first wonderful sail on Penobscot Bay in Maine, I dropped the main and the boom slipped down toward the deck (still in the track but the boom is very low). Am I missing something similar to a sail track, slug stopper? It seems as though something should hold the boom in place when I release the halyard. Any help will be very much appreciated. Thank you!

Yes, you need a sail track stop below the boom to keep the boom from sliding too far down the track, like in the one in the photo of my CD22 here:

My CD25 also had a slug stopper to fix that issue. Over the winter I just lowered it under the spot for inserting the slugs.
