My concern is the tack line- I can use dyneema line to secure a block just in front of the forestay and run the tack line back through the jib fairlead. My concern is the tack line rubbing against or worse, bending the base of the furler.
Any suggestions ?

A permanent fix would be to install a fairlead (or a padeye and second block) along the toerail slightly aft of the furler. The tack line would run from the spinnaker to the block to the forward fairlead and then back to the jib fairlead. That would route it comfortably around the furler. Staying close to the toerail would mean you don't have to worry about penetrating (and then sealing) the cored part of the deck.
The line will probably rub on the cabin top in front of the jib fairlead. If you're worried about that, installing another fairlead at the forward edge of the cabin would solve the problem.
Whatever you do, keep us posted! I'd like to see how it turns out.
