Companion way sliding hatch

Greetings,

The sliding companionway hatch on my new to me CD 27 will slide right out into the cockpit if you keep pulling. There must have been some kind of stop originally, can someone chime in?

My thought is to drill a vertical hole in each slide and drop in a clevis pin. This would stop it from sliding out but perhaps there is a cleaner more original, more elegant solution.

Walter, what I have on my CD30 is two small pieces of rubber screwed into the end of the track. I think that's cleaner than your proposal.

here is a photo of mine. It has wood stoppers fastened with two screws. I haven't removed mine but someone posted that they came out easy and the hatch cover slides right out

Thank you gentlemen for the replies.

Upon closer inspection it looks like there may be the remainder of holes where screws were in times past.
So I will make up some rubber or wood blocks to install as shown in the photo.
