looking to buy trailer for Typhoon Senior

Post by Megunticook »

Anybody have (or know of) a used trailer for a Typhoon Senior (or CD22)? Might be able to use a CD25 trailer as well.

Finding a trailer is no easy situation....I looked on the internet for hours and they just aren't available....check with alan stewart....he builds them...theres a guy in Texas that sells used ones....jlglore....look on sailing texas he has an ad....I checked with Triad and a new one for a 22 is about 5k....choke.....If I was desperate, I would find a double axle power boat trailer and convert it....I think you can do all of that for less than 2k...there are utube videos online to see how some do it....my neighbor is a welder so I would have him weld brackets and pads....I just like that setup better than float off....good luck with that...

I’ll keep my eyes open for a suitable trailer/frame for you down here in SC. Good ones sell quickly though and then we have the issue of transporting it to where you are - I might be able to deliver it at some point but we should chat again to decide if it makes sense... Good luck! Alan Stewart @ 843-450-2498

I’ve come across 3 tandem-axle trailers (2 aluminum & 1 galv.), since last post at reasonable prices already...

What sort of prices are you seeing?

I could come pick it up and bring it home, no need for delivery (unless you're hankering to cool off up here in Maine).

I'll PM you my phone number.

Thanks.

BTW, local trailer dealer says he wouldn't put a boat like mine on an aluminum trailer because of "flex"--I'm not sure I buy that. What do you think?

I'd like to get a trailer for my Typhoon Senior too before the end of October - located in Southeastern Mass.

I just posted a longer response to your initial posting on the other CDSOA forum (“Cape Dory...”), so I won’t repeat it here, but have a look...
