Karen Perrone wrote:Hello CDSOA members. We held our planning meeting in New Bern at Morgan's restaurant and elected for the next two years Lou Ostendorff as the new Carolinas Fleet captain, and I have stayed on as fleet secretary. A big "Thank you" to Bob Perrone as our outgoing Fleet Captain.
Hope all are doing well, below find our 2019 scheduled events. Contact me with any questions.

May 10th, 11th and 12th (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) this is Mother's Day Sunday Southriver Shakedown cruise
Cruise Captain: Dick Turner

June 14th,15th and 16th (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) this is Father's Day Sunday Cape Lookout (we are trying to get to Lookout this year before the hurricane season. Although this shows as a weekend trip, some CD members may be there a little earlier or stay a little longer, weather depending)
Cruise Captain: Bob Perrone

June 29th and 30th (Saturday and Sunday)
Croakerfest in Oriental. This is held during the Oriental Croakerfest festival with an open house in Lou's condo, usually on Saturday, with a covered dish get together in the early evening and fireworks viewing in the evening.
Cruise Captain: Lou Ostendorff

August 9th and 10th (Friday and Saturday)
River Dunes Dragon Boat festival. Get your name on a list for possible slip ASAP at River Dunes. They are not currently guaranteeing a slip reservation. I don't think they have all the festival details worked out yet.
Cruise Captain: Hilco Woudstra

September 14th through the 21st (Saturday to Saturday)
Ocracoke week long. State docks, Anchorage Inn Marina or anchor in Silver Lake are the three major options. There may be other private slip options but that would take some investigation on the boat captain's part.
Cruise Captain: Len Laughlin

October 19th (Saturday)
Broad Creek get together at Ken Coit's home. Anchoring in Broad Creek near Ken's is an option. Details will be provided closer to the event. This is a covered dish get together.
Cruise Captain: Ken Coit. Also, FYI, Ken indicated in our meeting that he would be interested in crewing for any of the sailing trips.

January 4th (Saturday)
Our CDSOA "Holiday" get together. We have found more success with the number of attendees when people are able to gather after the holidays. This is a covered dish event held this year at the Woudsta's home across the river on the Cherry Point side of the ferry near the ferry. Details will be provided closer to the event.
Cruise Captain: Hilco Woudstra

Thank you and let's have a great and safe sailing season this year.
