Sta-Bil diesel fuel stabilizer

I've never used a diesel fuel stabilizer.

I tend not to burn much diesel in a season.

Is using a diesel fuel stabilizer something you guys typically do?

If I fill my 20 gallon tank that could literally last me years. Wondering if I should use a diesel fuel stabilizer.

I have never used it. However do use Bio-Bar JF every time I fill the tank for many years. For small tank diesel installations, the organic bloom of biota is the issue as the fuel sits, diesel's pretty stable otherwise doesn't turn to varnish like gasoline. Like you, I generally don't fill the tank but once a season as well as a fall top-off before shutting down for winter season. Again, all fill-ups include a dollop of Bio-Bar. A small bottle lasts many years. Cheers!

For the Bio Bar JF if an oz treats 80 gallons do you use an eye dropper to measure it out or just splash a litte in the tank?

Is the only downside to overdosing just the added expense?

The design of the container allows you to regulate the dose within reason. A little extra won’t hurt.

Every winter I've put about the directed amount of Sta-Bil for diesel into my freshly filled tank. The last few seasons we've used a full tank or two, but previously I would not even use a full tank all season long, only topping it off before winter storage.

Keeping a full tank and using Sta-Bil and occasionally some Seafoam Motor Treatment or Stanadyne has worked well in our northern environment. If I were down south I would ask around for what works locally as I think there would be more concern for bio growth etc.
